It’s day 63 of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in my country due to COVID-9. While the whole world waits for the vaccine, a grand majority of us is in our homes, trying our best not to overwhelm our health care system more. With this comes with work arrangements for us to be working from home. Being work from home has its perks:
- Savings in time from my daily drive. Nope, didn’t miss the traffic – not even one bit. Imagine, 1.5-2hrs of rush hour traffic, one-way for 9-12 km! It’s insane.
- I get to sleep longer since I don’t need to wake up so early – like 4:30AM early for work. My daily drive and prep adds to my sleep time which is awesome.
- Savings from gas. I think I saved around $23.53 per week, or that’s been around $211.76 in total
- I get to eat meals with my family. In fact, I also get to eat meals on-time regularly and healthy snacks.
- I don’t have to think what to wear daily – except when I have video conferences.
- With gaining time, I managed to clear out my closet, drawers, and room.
- Also, I get to consistently do my skin care routine. I get to regularly do facial masks now!
Speaking of skin care, my holy grail quarantine skin care are:
Photo does not include yet the mask and facial cleansers, masks! If I will count the number of steps I have, in total, I have around 13 steps? But I don’t do all 13 everyday
How do I start my skin care:
STEP 1: Cleansing Oil and Wipes. I do this at night only, and when I feel like it. I’m not yet fully committed in doing this daily since I don’t see the need to. I don’t wear make-up at home. I love these returning items from The Face Shop!
STEP 2: Facial Foaming Cleanser or Wash. I do this twice a day, every day. I think this is a normal part most skin care routine. I own/hoarded quite a number of cleansing foams prior ECQ. So I never ran out of stock even when my fave one – The Face Shop’s Rice Water Bright Migamsu Foaming Cleaner ran out. I shifted to C
STEP 3: Facial Scrub. I do this once a day (normally at night), almost everyday. Skinfood is my go-to facial scrub! I had stocked this up from 2019. One of my faves too!
STEP 4: Facial Mask. I do this once a week, at night. I do this for 15-20 minutes. I don’t normally buy masks since a lot of people would gift this to me – and I end up being lazy and not using as much.
STEP 5: Toner. I do this twice daily. I have 2 options: either I put it on a cotton pad or on my palm and pat on my face and neck. My fave one ran out at the middle and it is out of stock, so it is a good time to try a new one.
STEP 6: Special Serum/Essence. Special to this item only! I do this twice daily. I drop it direct on my face and pat on my face and neck. However, the step order depends on what I did on #5. If on cotton, this comes next. But if I put on my palm and pat direct to face and neck, this serum comes in first. This was the recommended step for this specific serum. I’ve always wanted to try this brand, and it came in as a recommendation from a friend.
STEP 7: Essence. Twice daily, I put it on my palm and pat on my face and neck. Another staple for me. Unfortunately, I’m running out of it so I may need to purchase a new one. Assuming this is still in stock. 😦
STEP 8: Ampoule. Twice daily, selected areas on my face that has acne or signs of possible acne. Thanks to ECQ, I get to finish this bottle which is not normal for me. I use this also as a preventive than a treatment.
STEP 9: Eye Cream. Twice daily, I pat this gently around my eyes. This was a gift from S. Korea! I’m still checking if this is effective on my dark circles. The lady at the store said this is the newest edition to the popular line. 7th edition?
STEP 10: Serum. Once (normally at night) daily, and when I feel like it. I just use this around my neck. I bought this from a local store. It smells wonderful.
STEP 11: Lip Balm. Twice daily, on my lips to keep them from cracking. My favorite line of lip balms! This is bit rare that I had to mass order from Amazon each time a relative from US comes home.
STEP 12: Emulsion. Twice daily, on my face and neck. From the same line from Skinfood!
STEP 13: Cream. Twice daily, on my face and neck. Another Skinfood Favorite!
If you noticed the first picture had 2 toners. I had to purchase midway during the ECQ since my toner had been running out. At the start, my after shower ritual was:
Thanks to BeautyMNL – where I get my skin care orders, I managed to buy a new toner and a serum. Unfortunately, they had issues restocking so I had to find a different toner.
How did I come up on the steps? I did read a lot of reviews on which should go first. Normally you go with lightest to thickest since if you go with thicker consistency first, your skin might not absorb as much the lighter consistency formula. Also, before each step, I make sure to wait a little (around 1 minute) for it to be absorbed prior to the next step.
Do I get the sticky feeling? Not really. I guess the formula of my entire skin line is pretty light, which is perfect for the hot and humid weather.
Did I get breakouts given so much goes on skin? No. The important part is to wash twice daily. Don’t let it sit the entire day without washing! Cleansing is very important.
How come your skincare is full of whitening? Don’t let the name fool you! It doesn’t really whiten you, even if the name says as such. It really brightens you up and gives you this nice glow of looking alive and awake. I’m quite happy with my skin color, I just need to be less pale which these products especially from Skinfood helps me a whole lot. Yes, I will review them really soon!
After 63 days of boosting my skin care on a regular basis, I look and feel better. I don’t get to do this as regular as I want to when I go to work since I’m too tired! I would rather sleep than do all these things. I guess on top of upgrading my skin care, since I get more sleep and eat better, it really helped me so much. I noticed I don’t get as much breakouts, my skin looks better, I lost my coffee dependency, I don’t get sick too!
Given the flexible time, I am doing my best to get back on blogging again. I miss blogging!
However, I do hope the situation gets better globally. How we are now isn’t really how we should be.
How about you? What is your quarantine skin care?
